Here’s a few tricks on how to save on gas.
Driving Attitude
Don’t Brake too strong: You will then have to start from O mile per hour. If you slow down progressively at a traffic light, you may not even have to stop completely, saving you your momentum, and you will save on gas.
Don’t speed up. When you speed up, you will have to break more often. Also, try to keep an eye on your RPM (Rotations Per Minute) reading.
On the Street:If you are in a regular to high traffic street, try to keep your counter down to 2000 RPM.
On the highway: Try to keep your RPM rate to 3000 RPM. Also, it is a good idea not to be to close to the vehicle in front of you. This for 2 reasons: the first one, you may not have to break, the other, when the vehicle in front of you move, you will have some ground to accelerate progressively, also saving you some gas.
Don’t race, or start like a Jack Rabbit. This will wear down your tires and your MPG Miles per Gallon will drop tremendously.
Maintenance
Keep your tire pressure on the good range. Verify your tires pressure regularly. This will save you gas.
Check your tires often. When your tires show the first sign of tear and wear, change them. When a tire is down to the thread, it sticks to the road, making your MPG drop.
Get the Mid Range Gas grade. The highest is not that different in quality, but as for the lower grade teh gas doesn’t burn as well. Try it yourself . Keep the receipt, keep your miles on check and make a comparison. You ‘ll see!
Gas: When the weather is warm, or hot, refuel in the morning. It is a fact that gasoline is very volatile. When you fill up a tank while it is hot, you fill up also with some fumes, which expand the gas volume, and you fill up with a mixture of vapor and liquid down in your tank.
If you see a tanker filling up, don’t refuel. This for to reasons: the first one, it swirls the gasoline and you will have more fumes or vapor in the liquid, and second, a lot of debris stay at the bottom of the underground tank, whic of course take away good combustion of your pricey gasoline.
